A Thousand Years of Science

September 28, 2007 |

We are approaching a thousand years of Science. Modern science is based on the idea of empiricism. Every idea, to be accepted, must be verifiable by experiement. This soul of the new Science was first seen in the works of ibn al-Haitham or Alhazen in the first half of the eleventh century.

A blog dedicated to discuss thousand years of Science / ibn al-Haitham / Alhazen has been set up.

Since the translations of the Greek works of Aristotle by Ibn Rushd’s (Avveroes the father of western phylosophy) who lived in Cordoba, Spain and was the teacher of Maimonedese (the jewish physician who also lived in Cordoba, Spain).

The thrust of Science and Philosophy and progressive thinking has been enabled through the advancement of Avveroes thought.

This worldview came to the West (the leaders of the modern world) through the Italian renaissance. Can we say this has been totally good? Seeing as this same phylosophy has lead to the manufacture of nuclear weapons and many bad things in our society today.

What we desperately needed is a real look at how we can learn from history, we need to travel and learn about how these things came about, how those societies grew out of love for the human spirit, by learning and respect for one another. In these principles lies the science of co-operation and respect.

please read the article at http://www.stepintimetours.com/Resources/index.html you can see how the positive nurturing of differences in thought, language and culture in society can enhance society and create clarity. You can also leave a response at http://www.muslimspain.blogspot.com/
